Germany’s new drug commissioner: Daniela Ludwig

The candidate

Daniela Ludwig becomes the new drug commissioner of the Federal Government of Germany.
However, the 44-year-old CSU politician has yet to be officially confirmed by the federal government.

The task of the drug commissioners is to coordinate the addiction and drug policy of the Federal Government and to represent it to the public.

Daniela Ludwig currently represents the Rosenheim constituency and is the spokesperson for transport policy in the Union Group.
She has been a member of the Bundestag since 2002, is married and has two children.

Until now, Daniela Ludwig was not responsible for health policy or drug policy.

Health Minister Jens Spahn has already congratulated her on the new post via Twitter: „Ich freue mich, dass @DaniLudwigMdB neue Drogenbeauftragte wird. Für dieses Amt ist es wichtig, mitten im Leben zu stehen. Als langjährige Bundestagsabgeordnete und ehrenamtliche Kreisrätin bringt Daniela Ludwig genau das mit.“

Marlene Mortler, a csu politician who is still in the office of drug commissioner, was elected to the European Parliament. According to reports, she is likely to accept this mandate.
